The Humanities Project
Self-initiated pitch for The Humanities Project at the College of Liberal Arts, The University of Texas at Austin.
The initial objective of The Humanities Project was to invite critical conversations that educate, inspire, and connect individuals and communities through media content, workshops, and community partnerships. With the Liberal Arts continually under attack by the Texas state legislature, I decided to build the brand around a Lyndon Baines Johnson quote during the signing of the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities Act of 1965.
“Nothing matters more to the future of our country: not our military preparedness-for armed might is worthless if we lack the brainpower to build a world peace; not our productive economy-for we cannot sustain growth without trained manpower; not our democratic system of government-for freedom is fragile if citizens are ignorant.” - LBJ, (January 12, 1965, Special Message to Congress: Toward Full Educational Opportunity”).
